I remember going to Penang Hill once, when I was 10 years old. eating the sponge cake as my breakfast while waiting for the cable car. Remember the slow cable car try to drag all of us up there ..... the rest faded in memory lane.
Well, today early morning, my frenz and I hv planned to hike the Penang Hill from the Botanical Garden. Several routes are being offered, but we decided to take the staircase, and it most suited the Kinabalu trek. We're 30 minutes late than the scheduled time, thanks to the "Nua Queen" that couldn't drag herself up from the bed, even though with 5 alarm clocks standby
.
Met my coursemate and colleague in the Botanical Garden, guess I'm not the only health conscious person
. But they're already on the way back, as their day started while we're still on the bed
.
I like the staircases, hv to like it
. Well, starting is good, as the surrounding is new to me, so as usual I will be looking around while taking the stairs. The higher we get, I feel a bit uncomfortable though. I've height phobia, and when I start thinking the route when come down later, my legs try to shake. As you can see, your mental is actually affect you the most when comes to trekking
. I shrug off the thinking and put my concentration bk on the stairs again, luckily I get thru it
. Along the years, I hv try to push my limitation a bit by bit with every trek I hv taken .... hopefully this will help when I face my greatest challenge at the Mt Kinabalu peak
.
We try to take the hill routes for the trek, for the tar road is really steep (for our standard
) . But anyhow we hv took a short distance of the TAR road before we reach the hill top, and boy .... it's so exhausting
. I wonder if we could hv make it to the top if we took the tar road at the beginning
.
After 3 hours of walking, we finally reach the hill top, and quickly go get the inspiration that get us going all the way ..... the Nasi Lemak
. Hemm, expecting it too much, but the "Nua Queen" is so happily having it .... used to be her inspiration during her training last year.
We hv to take the tar road when coming down, as we don't wish to slide down the hill routes, the certain parts simply too steep and nothing to stop the slide if we go down. But the tar road show not much mercy, and I feel so sorry for my knees
. Luckily it's only to the mid hill, and later we resume to the hill routes again
. Another 2 hours of walking, and we all came down still in 1 piece
.
And it was the time when coming down, my legs muscles are giving me red alert, coz it's shaking violently
, sign of exhaustion
.
Still a good trek though, to me and my group, especially the "Nua Queen", coz that fellow never did any exercise normally
. We came across some "professional" hikers, and they keep inviting us to join them with another trek, which is much more cooler. I love to, but not TODAY
. But they told us the schedule, and let's hope will join them next time, as you might learn so much from them
.

) ..... and then it happens, I think I fall asleep for a blink second
